This research compares travel journalism from the UK press with the elements used in place branding as defined by Zakarevičius & Lionikaitė (2013). The aim is to discover if the two practices share common approaches in describing urban destinations. From the findings a new range of research opportunities from place making are identified for the travel writer or place writer.
