Grammar task 2

Explain the presence of the 'es' at the end of 'nues' on line 17.

'nues' is an adjective that refers to and agrees with the masculine plural noun 'divinities'. 'Divinité' is a feminine noun, even if here it refers to masculine deities, hence the presence of the 'e' (marker of the feminine form).
